Student Organization Spotlight: Students for Recycling
November 21, 2018
Students for Recycling’s mission is to educate students on how to recycle properly and to promote recycling on and off campus. They have several annual events including Dump & Run and their Bottle Exchange program that is held during Time for Change week. The goal of their Dump & Run event is to divert waste from residence halls during move-out; they collect unwanted items from students as they leave for the summer and then sell them on the first Friday of the autumn semester. During Time for Change week, Students for Recycling gives out reusable water bottles in exchange for plastic bottles. The goal of their Bottle Exchange program is to educate students on proper recycling and to help in reducing single-use plastic consumption.
They also provide many opportunities to volunteer and to be involved on campus throughout the school year. Some of these events and opportunities include: waste audits, Seeds of Service, and collaborations with other organizations. No matter what major or background a student comes form, if they have a passion for recycling and want to make a difference in helping to create a more sustainable campus, Students for Recycling is for them!
