Best Food Forward and Student Farm
October 31, 2019
Best Food Forward and the campus Student Farm are partnering for the first time to provide healthy and affordable produce that is grown right in our backyard. Best Food Forward is a student organization that provides healthy produce to students at half the cost of the grocery store. They do this by bulk purchasing produce directly from a distributer to eliminate any price mark-ups. Buyers order online every two weeks and pick up their orders at Scott House on Saturday mornings 10-1PM.
Best Food Forward is excited to partner with the Student Farm this semester to incorporate more local produce and support local farming efforts. At each buy, there are at least two items provided by the Student Farm. Items at recent buys have included: snap peas, turnips, and grape tomatoes. The Student Farm and Best Food Forward are completely run by students (with the support of some amazing faculty and staff) and are a great example of how Ohio State students are making campus more sustainable!
If you are interested in trying the farm’s delicious produce, you can order online at bestfoodforward.org. The remaining fall semester bulk buys are on November 2nd and November 16th , and ordering closes the Wednesday before each buy.
