Harvested Ohio State Trees Find a Home in Residence Halls

January 27, 2017

During the renovation of Ohio State’s North CampuHarvested Ohio State Trees Find a Home in Residence Hallss that was completed in 2016, trees of varying species were harvested from the construction site. These trees were not lost, and the wood was repurposed into tabletops to be used by students at the university. The wood from these trees were sent to a local mill, where they were cut and kiln dried. The wood was used to create handcrafted harvest tables that can be found in the kitchen areas of Torres, Houston, Raney, Bowen, Busch, Blackburn, Scott, and Nosker as well as the second floor of Traditions at Scott. The tables not only carry a little piece of Ohio State history, but exhibit our dedication to sustainability.
