Time for Change: Plastic Water Bottle Exchange

April 11, 2017

Students for Recycling at OSU have partnered with the Office of Energy Management and Sustainability and Coca-Cola in order to provide OSU students with reusable water bottles.

Plastic water bottles are a non-sustainable source of drinking water because of the fossil fuels used in the bottle manufacturing and shipping processes. During Time for Change Week at OSU, Students for Recycling worked to reduce the amount of disposable plastic water bottles used on campus and endeavored to alleviate the negative stigma against drinking tap water.

At the event, members of Students for Recycling passed out over 1,000 reusable Nalgene water bottles. To acquire a water bottle students either brought five disposable water bottles to recycle or they played a recycling game to promote what kind of items are actually recyclable on campus, which can be found here.
